With 28 Olympic medals, Michael Phelps is the GOAT. He attained everything, yet once retired, he wanted to kill himself.
Extremely successful and extremely unlucky people are much closer to each other than to the average person, like the ends of a horseshoe.
At age 10 I knew what I wanted. And I worked relentlessly towards it. I did well in school, I trained 10 times a week, so I was well on the way to taste success, however on a smaller scale than Phelps. At age 18 by becoming a junior world champion in kung fu, developing an unemployment registration software for the local governments, getting into university with a great scholarship, and receiving a national medal, I was killing it. Also, strangely, I wanted to kill myself. Even more strangely my conclusion was all rational.
If all these accomplishments didn't suddenly turn me into a happy person, nothing in the world would.
I was on the phone with my mom when I almost stepped in front of a train to end my life. It took a lot of work, wise friends, and faith, but eventually, I realized I had to grow up. Once an adult, I can't blame society for not handing me the recipe for life on a silver platter. It can be figured out.
